There\u2019s usually a point where something changes. Not in the writing itself but in how it feels to sit down and continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Progress Stops Being Clear<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Up to that point, the process has been straightforward enough. You write, you adjust, you improve what you can see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It may not be perfect, but it moves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, gradually, that movement slows, and you find yourself returning to the same paragraphs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Re-reading them. Changing a sentence. Then changing it back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nothing obviously wrong. But nothing is improving either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why More Effort Doesn\u2019t Solve It<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is the point most writers push through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They assume more effort will solve it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More time. More attention. More refinement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But this is where the limits of working alone begin to show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because the problem is no longer visible from where you\u2019re standing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What You Can\u2019t See From Inside the Writing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You already understand what the writing is trying to say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So when something is missing, you supply it without noticing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When a section drifts, you follow it anyway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When a moment lacks weight, you remember what it meant, rather than what is actually on the page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the inside, everything still makes sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the outside, it doesn\u2019t quite hold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Shift Most Writers Recognise<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is not a lack of ability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s the natural consequence of being too close to the material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most writers recognise this point, even if they don\u2019t name it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The writing becomes harder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The decisions become less clear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Progress slows without an obvious reason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Real Question<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s usually when the question appears:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is this something I can still fix myself?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There isn\u2019t a dramatic answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just a gradual shift.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From adjusting sentences\u2026to needing to see the structure more clearly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
