That’s where an independent editorial assessment becomes valuable.<\/p>\n
It is not a proofread.<\/p>\n
It is not a copy edit.<\/p>\n
It is not ghostwriting.<\/p>\n
It is an experienced editorial review of your manuscript from the perspective of the person who matters most.<\/p>\n
Your future reader.<\/p>\n
I’ll read your work carefully and explain:<\/p>\n

When you’ve lived your own story it’s natural to assume readers know more than they actually do.<\/p>\n

why events mattered;<\/p>\n
how relationships developed;<\/p>\n
what happened before and afterwards.<\/p>\n
Readers know none of those things.<\/p>\n
An assessment helps reveal the difference.<\/p>\n
That often changes the way writers look at their own manuscripts.<\/p>\n
Every memoir is different.<\/p>\n
But there are certain questions I ask while reading every manuscript.<\/p>\n
Does the story remain engaging?<\/p>\n
Where might readers become lost?<\/p>\n
Where do they want to know more?<\/p>\n
Does each chapter naturally lead to the next?<\/p>\n
Are important moments given enough space?<\/p>\n
Does anything interrupt the flow?<\/p>\n
Are people, places and events introduced clearly?<\/p>\n
Are assumptions made that only the writer could understand?<\/p>\n
Does the narrative move naturally?<\/p>\n
Are some sections rushed?<\/p>\n
Do others stay longer than necessary?<\/p>\n
Where does the story become most powerful?<\/p>\n
Where might readers become emotionally disconnected?<\/p>\n
Most importantly:<\/p>\n
Does the manuscript still sound unmistakably like you?<\/p>\n
That question matters throughout the assessment.<\/p>\n
You’ll receive a detailed editorial report written specifically for your manuscript.<\/p>\n
Rather than simply marking pages, I’ll explain:<\/p>\n
what I noticed;<\/p>\n
why it matters;<\/p>\n
how readers are likely to experience it;<\/p>\n
where I believe your revision effort will have the greatest effect.<\/p>\n

Artificial intelligence has become increasingly capable of improving individual sentences.<\/p>\n
That can certainly be useful.<\/p>\n
But memoirs succeed or fail for reasons that go well beyond grammar.<\/p>\n
Reader experience.<\/p>\n
Narrative flow.<\/p>\n
Context.<\/p>\n
Emotional progression.<\/p>\n
Voice.<\/p>\n
These are questions of judgement rather than simple correction.<\/p>\n
They are exactly the areas I concentrate on.<\/p>\n
I’ll always try to tell you honestly what I think.<\/p>\n
If something is working, I’ll say so.<\/p>\n
If something needs attention, I’ll explain why.<\/p>\n
If I recommend change, I’ll explain the reader’s experience that led me to that conclusion.<\/p>\n
